Sylhet Board HSC Pass Rate 50.90 Percent, 1,204 Students Get GPA-5

The pass rate in the HSC and equivalent examinations under the Sylhet Education Board this year is 50.90 percent. A total of 1,204 students from this board obtained GPA-5.
This pass rate is the lowest for the Sylhet board in 13 years. This year's results therefore show a steep fall in the Sylhet board's pass rate.
The picture across the country is similar. In this year's HSC and equivalent examinations, the average pass rate across 11 education boards — nine general boards plus the madrasah and technical boards — is 52.12 percent.
The national pass rate has fallen compared with last year. In 2025 the pass rate was 58.83 percent. By that calculation, the pass rate has fallen by 6.71 percentage points this year. A total of 40,084 students across the country obtained GPA-5 in this year's examinations.
On Saturday (31 October), shortly before 11am, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan inaugurated the publication of the results in the meeting room of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
This year, 1,270,583 students from 9,439 educational institutions under the 11 education boards took part in the HSC examinations. The examinations were held at 2,697 centres.
For the first time, the examinations were held with a common question paper across the nine general education boards. The HSC examinations began on 2 July and ended on 8 August. However, several written examinations of the Chattogram board were postponed because of flooding, so its written examinations finished on 9 September.
All candidates, including those of the Sylhet board, can learn their results from the education board websites, their own institutions and by SMS on mobile phones. To get results by SMS, students must type HSC, then the first three letters of the board name, then their roll number and the examination year, and send it to 16140.
Applications for re-scrutiny of results can be made from 1 to 7 November.
