Allegation of relationship with constable's wife proved, CID ASP Kazi Mizanur sent into compulsory retirement

Staff Reporter

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kazi Mizanur Rahman has been sent into compulsory retirement over an allegation of an extramarital relationship with the wife of a constable. He was posted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Dinajpur district.

The retirement came to light on Saturday (31 October) from a notification signed by Home Ministry Senior Secretary Manjur Morshed Chowdhury.

Kazi Mizanur Rahman had earlier served as an assistant police commissioner in the Tejgaon traffic zone of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

According to the departmental case, he met the wife of a Barishal Metropolitan Police constable through Facebook in April 2022. He was later alleged to have become involved in an extramarital relationship with the woman.

The summary of the departmental documents also notes that a court observation in a case filed over the incident mentioned a consensual physical relationship between them.

The departmental inquiry said such conduct by a police officer had damaged the image of the force. A charge of misconduct was brought against him under rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.

After the allegation was proved in the departmental inquiry, the decision was taken to send him into compulsory retirement. The order was issued following the advice of the Public Service Commission and the President's approval on 25 October.
