Chelsea beat ten-man Manchester United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge

Staff Reporter

Manchester United have suffered another defeat in the English Premier League. Hosts Chelsea beat Bruno Fernandes's side 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Forward Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer scored one goal each for Chelsea. It was United's ninth league match, and the Red Devils have managed only one win in those nine games.

The contest was lively from the start. In the 34th minute Matheus Cunha put the ball in Chelsea's net, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside with the help of VAR. Both sides created several chances in the first half but neither could score, and the teams went into the break goalless.

Chelsea found a goal right after returning from the interval. In the 50th minute Morgan Rogers gave the hosts the lead, putting the Red Devils 1-0 behind.

In the 63rd minute United's Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez committed a foul inside the box. He was shown a red card and left the field, reducing the visitors to ten men. In the 64th minute Cole Palmer scored from the penalty spot to all but seal the win.

United could not get back into the match with ten men, and Chelsea left the field with a 2-0 victory. After the win Chelsea have risen to fourth place in the table with 16 points from nine matches. Manchester United, with only seven points from the same number of matches, sit 16th.
