To bring the situation under control, police took up positions at the scene and fired tear shells and sound grenades at the protesters. Tension spread across the area as police held their ground.
The arson took place in Mirpur-11, where the clash centred on the police position and the protesters' gathering. Police remained deployed in the area even after the tear shells and sound grenades were fired.
