A court has placed Jerika Tasnim Disha, arrested in the sensational case over the murder of former Air Force flight lieutenant K M Tahsif Sauri and the concealment of his body, on a four-day remand. Judge Md Ripon Hossain of Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court granted the remand after a hearing on Sunday (November 1) afternoon. State counsel Muhammad Shamsuddoha Suman confirmed the matter.

Earlier, the case's investigating officer, Inspector Firoz Uddin of the Tongi river police outpost, had sought a seven-day remand to interrogate Disha. The court granted four days after the hearing.

According to police sources, Disha was arrested in a raid on Saturday (October 31) night. The investigating officer said important information about her involvement in the killing was obtained with the help of information technology and by reviewing CCTV footage from various locations in Uttara.

Analysis of the CCTV footage shows that on the night of October 27, Disha was with the slain Tahsif at Uttara's 'Nest Restaurant and Bar', and at DP Five Star Snacks the same evening. Between 10:17 pm and 11:50 pm they travelled to and from the bar on the same motorcycle. The two were later seen leaving the place together, and footage from a garage's CCTV also captured them travelling together.

According to the first information report filed by the victim's father, K M Enayetul Karim, Tahsif left home after 6 pm on October 27 at the call of a junior friend named 'Dip'. When he did not return late into the night, his mother phoned him repeatedly, and he said he would return home soon.

Later, at 1:35 am, he sent his mother a voice message via Messenger saying, 'I have set out, I'm coming.' But Tahsif never returned home after that.

The next day, October 28, at 5:20 pm, the family learned through Uttarkhan police station and the river police that Tahsif's body had been recovered from the Turag river near Rajar Bari Ghat. After an autopsy on October 29, the body was handed over to the family, and he was later buried at the Uttara Sector 12 graveyard.

The victim's father filed a murder case with Uttarkhan police station in the capital over the incident.

Earlier, on Thursday night, law enforcement arrested Shahriar Reza Dip, another accused in the case, from Mohammadpur. On the court's orders he is currently on a four-day remand in river police custody.

Police want to interrogate Disha extensively on remand to uncover other important information about the case and the roles of those involved in the killing.
