Hannan Eyes Youth Asia Cup as Bangladesh Face Afghanistan on November 5

Staff Reporter

This year's Youth Asia Cup gets under way next week. Ahead of the tournament, the BCB announced the Bangladesh squad yesterday, and the players took part in a photoshoot at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.

The Youth Asia Cup's on-field action begins on November 5, when Bangladesh face Afghanistan in their first match. Bangladesh play Sri Lanka in their second match on November 7, and then face Malaysia on November 9.

Speaking to the media after the official photoshoot in Mirpur before leaving for the Youth Asia Cup, head coach Hannan Sarkar said, “At youth level or senior level, Afghanistan are a good team. As for the series draw here, we played our first series.”

On the squad's experience, Hannan said, “Only our captain Faysal was in the previous youth team. The other 14 have made their debuts. It was a new experience for them.”

Expressing satisfaction with the preparation, the head coach said, “I think we played the kind of cricket we wanted to play. Our main focus was preparation for the Asia Cup. From that point of view, we are satisfied.”
