Summit LNG Terminal at Maheshkhali to Stay Shut Nov 4-7, Gas Supply to Fall

Staff Reporter

Gas supply from the Summit LNG terminal at Maheshkhali in Cox's Bazar will remain suspended from the morning of 4 November to the afternoon of 7 November for emergency maintenance work. Low gas pressure may prevail across the country during this period.

The public relations office of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) disclosed the information in a notice on Sunday (1 November).

According to the notice, the regasification process — converting LNG back into gas — at the Summit terminal will remain halted from 4 to 7 November.

Supply to the national gas grid will fall during this time. The notice said current daily supply of 920 million cubic feet will decrease by 320 million cubic feet to stand at 600 million cubic feet.

Because of this reduction, low pressure may prevail at the consumer end across the country, the notice said.

Petrobangla also said similar maintenance work had been carried out in December last year as well.

Petrobangla expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience to customers.
