Chandan Sutradhar, a student of Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) and a July uprising fighter, has died of dengue. Doctors at Enam Medical College Hospital in Dhaka declared him dead around 7pm on Sunday while he was undergoing treatment there. His elder brother Ananda Sutradhar confirmed the death.

Chandan Sutradhar was a student of the 2021-22 session of the university's Gender and Development Studies department. He was the son of Anil Sutradhar of Shibalaya upazila in Manikganj.

Chandan took part in the July uprising from the front line and was shot in the head at the time. According to his classmates and teachers, the bullet was still lodged in his head. He survived that gunshot, but dengue has now claimed his life.

Classmates and teachers have expressed grief over Chandan's death. His classmate Azizur Rahman said, 'I never imagined I would lose my friend to dengue. It is very hard to accept that such a lively person has left us so early. In his passing we have lost a friend, which can never be made up.'

Twaha Hossain, assistant professor of the university's Gender and Development Studies department, said, 'I am deeply saddened to hear of Chandan's death. I cannot believe he has gone so suddenly. He was a very good boy. He was also a July fighter. I used to talk to him now and then.'
