Turkish Gendarmerie Gives Five-Day Riot-Control Training to 118 Ansar Members

A specialist team from Türkiye's Gendarmerie is giving special training to members of Bangladesh Ansar and the Village Defence Party to increase their capacity to handle public order situations, control riots and respond quickly to any unwanted situation.
The five-day training, titled 'Public Order Incident Response and Riot Control Training', began on Sunday at the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy. It will continue until November 5.
A total of 118 people are taking part in the training. Among them are 11 BCS officers, 10 members of the Special Response Battalion (SRB) and 97 members of Ansar battalions.
A five-member specialist team from Türkiye's Gendarmerie is conducting the training. The team is led by Gendarmerie Colonel Boro Tasdelen, counsellor for security, cooperation and internal affairs at the Turkish Embassy in Bangladesh.
In addition, three experienced instructors from Türkiye's Gendarmerie General Command and one interpreter are included in the team.
On the first day, Gendarmerie First Lieutenant Oguzhan Karatas gave a detailed overview of the training's goals, objectives, curriculum, modules and methods.
The six-hours-a-day training emphasises theoretical lessons, practical exercises, real-situation-based training and operational tactics.
On the first day, theoretical training was held at the academy's Bir Bikram Elahi Box Auditorium. After the midday break, practical training was given on the parade ground, where trainees were taught various self-defence techniques hands-on and demonstrations were held.
A press release from Ansar and the Village Defence Party said that combining members' existing professional skills and experience with the modern techniques and practical knowledge gained from the training will further strengthen overall preparedness.
The release expressed the expectation that the training will play an important role in handling public order, controlling riots, preventing sudden violence and taking quick and effective steps in crisis situations. As a result, the force's capacity to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in the country will increase further, the release said.
