Speakers at an event held at Dr Mahbubur Rahman Molla College in the capital's Jatrabari advised students to make proper use of time, maintain a positive attitude, and take part in co-curricular activities alongside regular studies.

The speakers made the remarks at the 24th episode of the event titled "Stamford University–Prothom Alo Tarunyer Prithibi". Several hundred students of the college took part in the programme held on Sunday.

The speakers said the world's famous people made proper use of their time. To do well, young people too must always use time properly and nurture a positive attitude. Moving forward requires hard work, perseverance and a fixed goal.

At the event, Prothom Alo managing editor Anisul Hoque inspired the students with patriotism and the spirit of the Liberation War. He said that to become a good human being one must read a lot of books, and that there is no alternative to reading books for knowing oneself.

Urging students to join various co-curricular activities alongside their studies, Anisul Hoque said such activities would help them move forward. But whatever work they do, they must do it with full attention.

Anisul Hoque also advised students to stay away from drugs and bad company. He led the students in a "No" slogan against drugs.

College chairman Mahbubur Rahman Molla told the students at the event: "You are the world of tomorrow. Your contribution and role in making tomorrow's world liveable will be immense. But only you can do this difficult work. You must also nurture this belief in your hearts."

Encouraging students to dream, Kamal Kanta Das, assistant professor of the microbiology department at Stamford University, said that merely dreaming is not enough to achieve something big in life; one must strive wholeheartedly to realise the dream. Realising a dream requires hard work, perseverance and moving forward with a fixed goal.

At the event, Farhad Hoque of Brain Forward Bangladesh conducted various activities with the students to improve memory, attention, thinking ability and mental resilience. He told the students: "Never think or act like 'I cannot do it, it is not possible for me.' Keep yourself energetic. Work hard with courage in your heart, and give yourself at least a little time every day."

Farhan Sakib, programme director of 10 Minute School, advised students to increase creativity in their thinking and work by using artificial intelligence (AI).

Earlier in the morning, Anisul Hoque inaugurated a three-day Prothoma book fair at Shamsul Hoque Khan School and College in Demra. There he advised students to read various story and poetry books alongside concentrating on their studies. Anisul Hoque gave books as gifts to several students through an instant question-and-answer session. The book fair will run until next Tuesday.
