Loudspeaker Campaign in Banshkhali Calls for Sheikh Hasina's Return Under Banned Chhatra League Banner, Video Goes Viral
In Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram, a loudspeaker campaign was carried out from a CNG-run auto-rickshaw under the banner of the banned Chhatra League, promoting the return home of ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who was toppled in a mass uprising. A video of the campaign spread on social media on Sunday (1 November) afternoon.
The campaign was run from 2pm on Sunday on various roads of Katharia Union in Banshkhali upazila, using a microphone fitted to a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, which also carried a banner.
The video that spread online is 2 minutes 56 seconds long. It shows a pre-recorded speech being played over the microphone mounted on the auto-rickshaw.
The announcement named ‘Banshkhali Upazila Chhatra League, Chattogram South’ as the organiser of the loudspeaker programme.
Asked about the matter, Banshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Rabiul Haque said he was not aware of the loudspeaker campaign and would look into it and provide information.
