The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Indianapolis Colts 42-7 in an NFL game in Jacksonville, Florida, on Sunday (1 November). The heavy defeat for the AFC South rivals came just as trade speculation around Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor has heated up.

Jacksonville's defence bottled Taylor up for most of the day. He finished with 23 yards on eight carries and was saddled with a fumble on a botched trick play. Yet Taylor is also the last player to top 100 yards rushing in a game against the Jaguars, a feat he achieved in the 2024 regular-season finale.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence led the Jaguars' attack, throwing three touchdowns. Bayshul Tuten scored twice, and Rayuan Lane returned an interception 92 yards for a touchdown with 10 seconds to play in the second quarter.

Jacksonville's 28-0 lead at halftime was the third-largest advantage at the break in franchise history.

Colts quarterback Daniel Jones completed 19 of 28 passes for 144 yards, with a touchdown to Josh Downs and two interceptions. He was benched in the fourth quarter and replaced by Anthony Richardson.

The loss left the Colts at 2-6. It came five days after the Colts traded two of their best players, Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner. They have reportedly turned down an offer that circled around a second-round pick.

In the trade talk, Taylor's name has been linked with the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings, both sitting in first place in their respective divisions. Taylor, who has made three Pro Bowls, remains the most valuable and best player on the Colts' roster.

Indianapolis last won at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville in 2014. The 12-game skid at the venue includes a trip to London in 2016.

Indianapolis will host the Dallas Cowboys next week, but it remains to be seen whether Taylor will still be there.
