On Shah Rukh Khan's 61st Birthday, 'King' Drops Its First Song: Romance Hiding Bloody Action

Staff Reporter

The first song from Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film 'King' has been released to mark his 61st birthday. Titled 'Tu Mil Jaaye', the song came out at midnight on 2 November. Last year, on the actor's 60th birthday, the makers had unveiled the first look of 'King'; this year, the 61st birthday brought the film's first song.

In the song, Shah Rukh Khan is seen romancing Deepika Padukone on screen. The pair appear together in scenic natural settings and in quiet, intimate moments, and Shah Rukh's new look with short black hair has drawn attention.

But the song is not only about romance — its biggest surprise is the action. Midway through the romantic mood, the scene suddenly shifts: Shah Rukh appears with salt-and-pepper hair, a bloodied face and a menacing look, fighting several men while fire burns behind him.

The song opens with Shah Rukh's line, 'Main qatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashuka…' — I am not a killer, I am a lover, and my target is my beloved. Another line near the end has drawn particular notice: this time his heart is on fire, and he will not stop until he sets the world ablaze.

The song also hints at a connection between Shah Rukh's character and the underworld and smuggling trade, pointing to a darker side of the character in the film.

'Tu Mil Jaaye' is sung by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with music by Sachin-Jigar. One of its biggest attractions is a rap by international music star Ed Sheeran. The collaboration between Indian and international artists has created extra interest around the song.

Many fans had expected a teaser or trailer, but the makers chose to surprise them with a song instead.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the action thriller 'King' also stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma, among others, alongside Shah Rukh and Deepika.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 24 December 2026. After the first song, fans are now waiting to see Shah Rukh's romantic and destructive sides in 'King'.
