Masud Rumi has been elected president of the executive committee of the Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB), the organisation of technology journalists, for the 2026-28 term. Kumar Biswajit Roy has been elected general secretary.

The new committee was announced on Monday (2 November) at the organisation's biennial election held at the Maulana Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club. Chief election commissioner and National Press Club president Hasan Hafiz announced the names of those elected. TMGB shared the information in a press release.

Newly elected president Masud Rumi is a deputy editor of a national daily and head of its business and economics desk. General secretary Kumar Biswajit Roy is a senior reporter at a state-run television channel.

In the nine-member committee, Golam Dastagir Touhid has become vice-president, Badruddoza Mahmud Tuhin joint secretary and Mahadi Hasan Shimul treasurer.

Rashed Imam has been elected organising secretary and Farhana Haque Neela publicity and training secretary. Outgoing president Mohammad Kawsar Uddin and Enamul Haque Majumdar (Majumdar Babu) have become executive members.

Several members of the new committee were also in the previous one. Kumar Biswajit Roy was vice-president of the outgoing committee and Golam Dastagir Touhid was its organising secretary. Mahadi Hasan Shimul has been re-elected as treasurer.

At TMGB's biennial general meeting on 19 September, a proposal to reduce the executive committee from 11 members to nine was approved unanimously. The decision was taken to make the organisation's work more dynamic, and this is the first nine-member committee formed under it.

Election commissioner and Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) president Tanvir Ibrahim and TMGB trustee board member S M Afsarul Islam were present when the results were announced. Members of the organisation and invited guests were also present.

After the results were announced, charge was formally handed over to the new committee. Outgoing committee members were thanked for their contribution and the new members were welcomed with flowers. The new committee presented crests to the chief election commissioner and other members of the commission for conducting the election.

After taking charge, newly elected president Masud Rumi said TMGB, as a professional journalists' organisation, would work in a more united way. Alongside ensuring members' professional development and protection, the organisation would play a role in the overall development of the information technology and telecommunications sector.

Outgoing president Mohammad Kawsar Uddin expressed hope that the new leadership would take TMGB further forward, building on the achievements of the previous committee.

TMGB, one of the professional organisations of technology-sector journalists, works to improve the quality of technology journalism and raise journalists' professional skills. It organises research, policy roundtables, professional training and technology workshops.
