After '420' and '840', is '1680' next? Farooki hints in photo post with Mosharraf

One photograph and a few words have put director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and actor Mosharraf Karim back at the centre of discussion. After '420' and '840', is '1680' coming next? That is the question now circulating among viewers around Farooki's social media post.
On Sunday night (1 November), Farooki started the fresh discussion by publishing a photograph with Mosharraf Karim. Seeing the picture, many assume the two have appeared together in connection with a new project. By not giving details of any new project, however, the director himself has deepened the curiosity.
With the photograph, Farooki wrote: '420 is done. 840 is done too. Time for 1680? Respected guys?' From those words, viewers have taken the idea that, after the previous two instalments, '1680' may be planned as the next instalment of the story — and discussion has also begun over whether Mosharraf Karim will be seen in that project.
Farooki has not yet officially confirmed the matter, however. Nor is it clear whether the new work will be a serial or a film. The previous instalment, '840', was made as a film, so viewers will have to wait to learn in which medium the story will appear this time.
Asked about the new project, Farooki did not disclose details. He said: 'What I have written on Facebook is all. I do not want to say more than that right now.'
Farooki's '420' is among the notable comedy and political-satire works of Bangladeshi television drama. In the story of the serial, aired in 2007, two thieves come to Dhaka and, through various events, become entangled with politics. Built as a mix of satire and humour, the story drew a wide response from viewers at the time.
The serial starred Mosharraf Karim, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Lutfor Rahman George, Sohel Khan and Marzuk Russell, among others.
After a long break, Farooki returned with '840' in 2024. Discussed as the next instalment after '420', that work's story brought up the context of ousted leaders. It starred Nasir Uddin Khan, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahriar Nazim Joy, Marzuk Russell and Zakia Bari Mamo, among others.
Farooki's hint about '1680' has now created the possibility of a return to that story's world. Beyond the social media post, however, no confirmed announcement has yet come.
