Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' Rules the Box Office: Worldwide Gross Crosses Tk 1,000 Crore in 18 Days

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' continues to rule the box office. In 18 days, the film's worldwide gross has crossed Tk 1,000 crore in Bangladeshi currency.

The 75-year-old star has returned to the screen with the sequel to 'Jailer' after three years. Like the first part, the second part has been directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar. The film features Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff and Mohanlal in guest roles.

'Jailer 2' was released on 15 October in 2,500 theatres in India and 1,500 theatres abroad. Fans were excited about the film even before its release, and that enthusiasm has shown at the box office after release. It has already broken the record of 'Jailer'.

According to Sacnilk, 'Jailer 2' earned Rs 456.30 crore nett in India in 18 days, Rs 533.75 crore gross in India, and Rs 273.50 crore gross overseas. That takes its 18-day worldwide gross to Rs 807.25 crore, or Tk 1,057.74 crore in Bangladeshi currency.

BollyMovieReviewz put the worldwide gross at Rs 804 crore, or Tk 1,053.49 crore. By that count, the film earned Rs 59 crore nett in India on its first day, Rs 37 crore on the second day, Rs 50 crore on the third, Rs 54 crore on the fourth and Rs 43 crore on the fifth day.

By the same count, it earned Rs 45 crore on the sixth day, Rs 28 crore on the seventh, Rs 17 crore on the eighth, Rs 15 crore on the ninth and Rs 24 crore on the tenth day. It then earned Rs 26 crore on the eleventh day, Rs 9 crore on the twelfth, Rs 8 crore on the thirteenth, Rs 7 crore on the fourteenth, Rs 6 crore on the fifteenth, Rs 5 crore on the sixteenth, Rs 9 crore on the seventeenth and Rs 11 crore on the eighteenth day, all nett.

Among this year's Tamil films, 'Jailer 2' tops the opening-day chart with Rs 110 crore. 'Jan Nayagan' is second with Rs 81.05 crore and 'Vishwanath and Sons' third with Rs 30 crore.

The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirna, S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Suraj, among others. Made on a budget of Rs 300 crore, it was produced by Kalanithi Maran, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.

The first 'Jailer' was released worldwide on 10 August 2023 on 2,900 screens. Made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, that film earned Rs 600 to 635 crore.
