UEFA Sends FIFA 42 Questions Over Infantino, Awaits Reply
UEFA has expressed deep dissatisfaction with FIFA president Gianni Infantino's leadership and various policy decisions. Amid controversies and concerns surrounding Infantino's tenure and administrative activities, the European football body has sent FIFA an urgent letter and is now awaiting its reply.
In the letter, UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis put a total of 42 questions, based on 12 separate issues, to FIFA general secretary Mattias Grafström.
The questions focus most heavily on the cancelled "FIFA Forward Enterprise" project and the controversy surrounding the "FIFA Peace Prize".
The letter also raises questions about the transparency of Infantino's presidency, conflicts of personal interest and various commercial deals. According to the latest information, UEFA has still received no reply from FIFA.
UEFA has also strongly criticised FIFA's initiative to form a separate company to manage the commercial rights of FIFA competitions and the World Cup, and to sell stakes in it to private investors. It has questioned the lack of financial transparency and the fact that the plan was advanced without proper consultation with the council.
UEFA has pressed FIFA to respond within a set timeframe. With the FIFA presidential election scheduled for March 2027, the letter and FIFA's reply could have a major impact on relations between the two organisations.
