Nasiruddin Patwary, senior joint convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has warned of a tough street movement if the government does not immediately cut the price of gas and withdraw anti-people decisions. He issued the warning at an emergency press conference held in front of the NCP office at Banglamotor in the capital on Monday (November 2) night.

The emergency press conference was called to protest the cylinder gas price being raised twice within 29 days. Patwary said: 'The previous Awami League government used to raise the prices of goods at night. Now Tarique Rahman is walking the same path.'

He said fuel prices must be adjusted 'in the quickest possible time.' Speaking about the ongoing movement in the garment industry, he said there was an intelligence failure by the government in it, and that the fallen Awami League was taking advantage of it.

Patwary said: 'This is not Tarique Rahman's government, it is a syndicate's government. He raised the price to benefit a few companies.'

Also speaking at the press conference were NCP joint convener and political council member Sarwar Tushar and senior joint member secretary Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.
