Kangana returns to horror after 16 years in new film 'Scary Picture'

Staff Reporter

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is set to act in a horror film again after a long break of 16 years. She will be seen in the central role of a horror film for the first time since 'Raaz: The Mystery Continues', released in 2009.

The new Hindi film is called 'Scary Picture'. It is being produced by Rana Daggubati, the popular actor and producer of India's southern film industry.

Rana Daggubati recently announced the new film project at a formal event. Kangana Ranaut then confirmed her involvement in the film in a post on social media, and also shared Rana's announcement video message on her own account. Since the announcement, the film and Kangana's return have become a topic of discussion in India's entertainment world.

On the film's genre, Rana Daggubati said it will come to the screen as a purely horror film. It is being directed by his friend Ravi Babu, who has previously made several popular horror films in Telugu cinema.

'Scary Picture' will also mark Ravi Babu's formal debut as a director in Hindi cinema. Rana said no Hindi media outlet had published information about the film before the formal announcement, making this the film's first official announcement.

The film is being made under Rana Daggubati's own production company banner. For Kangana, who has stayed away from the horror genre since 'Raaz: The Mystery Continues' in 2009, this new film will be her return to that genre.
