Police have recovered the body of Adnan, an Indian medical student, two days after he went missing from the hostel of Eastern Medical College in Cumilla. His body was recovered on Wednesday morning (November 4) from a pond adjacent to the college.

The deceased Adnan was a resident of India's Jammu and Kashmir region. He was a fifth-year student at the medical college.

Confirming the matter, Burichang police station officer-in-charge (OC) Lutfor Rahman said locals informed police on Wednesday morning after seeing a body floating in the pond. College authorities and the deceased's mother later came to the spot and identified the body as Adnan's.

The OC said Adnan came to Bangladesh with his mother on October 31. As he was somewhat inattentive to his studies, family members brought him to Bangladesh somewhat forcibly.

On the night of November 2, he went missing after leaving the college hostel. The college authorities and his mother filed a missing diary at Burichang police station yesterday over the incident.

Police then reviewed CCTV footage from various places in an effort to trace him. In the meantime, his body floated up in the pond adjacent to the college on Wednesday morning.

On receiving the news, police went to the spot and recovered the body. The cause of his death was not immediately known.
