Bank Employee Abdul Hannan Crushed Under Truck Wheels at Keshail in Badalgachhi, Naogaon
A bank employee named Abdul Hannan, 41, has been killed after being crushed under the wheels of a stone-laden truck in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon. The accident happened at around 7am on Wednesday, November 4, in the Keshail area of Kola Union in the upazila.
The deceased, Abdul Hannan, was a permanent resident of Rukunpur village in Badalgachhi upazila. He was working as an office assistant at the Akkelpur branch of Rupali Bank PLC in Joypurhat district.
Local and eyewitness sources said Hannan had set out from home on his motorcycle for his workplace in Akkelpur in the morning, as he did every day.
When he reached the Keshail area of Kola Union, he came face to face with a stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction towards Akkelpur.
At that moment, sand was being loaded onto a tractor standing on the left side of the road. Eyewitnesses said he lost control because of the stone-carrying truck suddenly appearing in front of him.
After losing control, Hannan's motorcycle first hit the back of the standing tractor hard. The impact threw him onto the road.
After being thrown off, he was crushed under the rear wheels of the fast-moving stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction.
After the accident, local people rescued him in a seriously injured condition and took him to the upazila health complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Badalgachhi Police Station, said the body was handed over to the family after completion of legal procedures.
The OC also said legal action against the killer truck and the illegal vehicle, and preparations to file a case over the incident, were under way.
