Banned Awami League and Chhatra League Have Joined Protests in Workers' Guise, Claims PM's Assistant Rasched Khan
Md Rasched Khan, political assistant to the Prime Minister, has claimed that members of the banned Awami League and Chhatra League have joined the garment workers' protests disguised as workers. He made the claim on Wednesday (November 4) in the caption of a media news card shared on his Facebook page.
Rasched Khan wrote: 'Workers have come out wearing helmets? Do they look like workers from their body fitness and dress-up? The banned Awami League and Chhatra League have joined the movement in workers' guise.'
Garment workers have been protesting for the past several days in Mirpur in the capital and in different areas of Gazipur, demanding that the minimum wage be raised to 30,000 taka.
Toufik Mia (20), from Gobindaganj in Gaibandha, who was injured in an attack during the ongoing garment workers' movement in Gazipur demanding a wage increase, died while undergoing treatment.
Speaking about Toufik Mia's death, the Prime Minister's political assistant Rasched Khan said no ordinary worker could carry out such rampage.
