Sreeleela joins Rajinikanth in new film 'Dharman', directed by Ashwath Marimuthu

The new pairing drawing attention in southern Indian cinema is Rajinikanth and actress Sreeleela. Bridging an age gap of nearly 50 years, the two will appear together in a new film. Sreeleela has joined as the heroine of Rajinikanth's upcoming film 'Dharman'. The film's production company announced the casting officially.

According to Indian media reports, 'Dharman' is being directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The film marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and this director. It will also be Sreeleela's first time sharing the screen with Rajinikanth.

The production house released a video on social media welcoming the actress. The video hinted at Sreeleela's presence in the film.

Besides Rajinikanth and Sreeleela, Simran, Nayanthara, Yogi Babu and Raashi Khanna are acting in important roles in the film.

Since the release of the film's first promotional glimpse, curiosity has grown among viewers about Rajinikanth's character. Early hints suggest he may be seen as a doctor in the film. However, the makers used the phrase 'ketta paiyan', meaning 'bad man', to describe the character, so the possibility of negative traits in the role cannot be ruled out either.

Sreeleela's workload in southern cinema is growing. She made her Tamil film debut earlier this year with 'Parashakti'. She will be seen as Rosa, the wife of Dhanush's character, in the upcoming film 'Om' starring Dhanush and Mammootty. She has also joined Ajith Kumar's film 'Daredevil'.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for 'Dharman'. He previously worked with Rajinikanth on 'Petta', 'Darbar', 'Jailer', 'Vettaiyan' and 'Coolie'.

The film's release date has not yet been officially announced. Under the makers' plan, 'Dharman' could reach cinemas in April 2027.
