US-Bangla Airlines has planned an investment of about 22 million US dollars to improve passenger service quality, increase ground operations capacity, ensure flight punctuality and deliver international-standard service. The airline said a letter of credit worth 12 million dollars has already been opened toward this end.

In a press release on Thursday (November 5), US-Bangla Airlines said 146 more pieces of equipment will be added to its existing 590 ground service equipment. The new equipment is planned to be added within the next three to four months.

The new equipment includes aircraft pushback tractors and towbars, baggage belt loaders, baggage tractors, passenger boarding stairs, ground power units, air start units, catering trucks, water and lavatory service trucks and various other ramp support equipment.

The release said that having crossed 12 years since its founding, US-Bangla Airlines is moving to strengthen its position internationally. Its fleet currently has 25 aircraft, and there is a plan to add 21 more Boeing 737 series aircraft by December 2027.

The airline currently operates flights to 14 international destinations in 10 countries. Initiatives have been taken to add about 16 more new international destinations.

To build an environment-friendly aviation system in line with the government’s electric vehicle industry development policy, US-Bangla plans to operate 80 electric vehicles (EVs) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The process of setting up charging infrastructure for these vehicles is under way.

As part of the plan to build regional hubs in Chattogram and Sylhet, necessary ground support is also being expanded, the release said.

The release noted that flight punctuality and efficient operations do not depend on aircraft alone; modern ground equipment, skilled manpower and coordinated management are also essential parts of it. The airline is giving importance to adequate ground service equipment in keeping with the growing number of aircraft.
