Gold prices have risen again in the local market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) announced the increase in a notice on Thursday (5 November), the second consecutive day of a price rise.

Prices have been raised by up to Tk 5,482 per bhori this time. With VAT included, one bhori of 22-carat gold now costs Tk 229,664.

The new prices took effect from 10am on Thursday. On Wednesday, gold of the same quality was priced at Tk 224,182 per bhori.

Bajus said the local price was adjusted because the price of pure gold had gone up. It noted that gold prices had also risen in the international market before the local adjustment.

According to goldprice.org, the price of gold in the international market on Thursday morning was 4,141 US dollars per ounce.

Under the new rates, with VAT included, 21-carat gold is Tk 219,342 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk 188,374, and traditional-method gold is Tk 153,848 per bhori.

Bajus also set silver prices: 22-carat silver at Tk 3,499 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 3,383, 18-carat at Tk 2,916, and traditional-method silver at Tk 2,216.
