Staff Reporter

Dhaka: The non-political, non-profit social organisation ‘Amra Nari’ and the specialised eye care institution Aristo Eye Hospital have signed a strategic healthcare memorandum of understanding aimed at mutual cooperation in women's health protection, social empowerment and the expansion of public health services.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony on Thursday (November 5) at Aristo Eye Hospital's own premises on Mirpur Road in the capital. Under the agreement, registered members of ‘Amra Nari’ and their family members will receive special discounts and various institutional facilities on specialised eye treatment and different health services at Aristo Eye Hospital.

MM Zahidur Rahman Biplob, founder and chief coordinator of ‘Amra Nari’, signed the memorandum on behalf of the organisation. Also present were Secretary (Legal Advocacy) Barrister Farzana Awal Totini and Secretary (Research and Development) Dr Rakibul Hasan Murad.

Present on behalf of Aristo Eye Hospital were its chief executive Professor Major General (retd) Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, Head of Operations Professor Dr Brigadier General (retd) Muhammad Delowar Hossain and Business Development Manager Md Anamul Haque.

Beyond treatment discounts, the two institutions will also work jointly to raise public awareness about eye health, detect early symptoms and spread preventive health education. To that end, awareness seminars, discussion meetings and special health service activities will be held at educational institutions and various social and institutional platforms.

The organisers said any interested citizen can become a general member completely free of charge through the official website of ‘Amra Nari’. From the time of registration, they will be able to take this specialised eye treatment opportunity for themselves and their families under the agreement.

The two institutions expressed the hope that this initiative, combining humanitarian values, institutional capacity and mutual cooperation, will make a positive contribution to the health protection of the country's women, families, students and the wider public.
