Two groups clashed in phases at Bajitpur Bazar in Kishoreganj. At least more than a hundred people from both sides were injured in the clash, which lasted for about five hours.
The injured are receiving treatment at Bajitpur Upazila Health Complex, Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital and other hospitals.
The clash began on Thursday afternoon (5 November) in front of MP Market at Bajitpur Bazar between two groups from Kailag Union and the Darighagtia area of the municipality.
Later, from 6pm to 11pm, clashes and chases and counter-chases took place in phases.
Local people said an argument started inside a mobile phone shop in front of MP Market between Kalam of the Darighagtia area and Zidan of the Kailag area.
At one stage, a scuffle broke out between them at Murad's shop. As the news spread, the clash between the two groups began.
Tension spread across the whole bazar area through several rounds of chases, counter-chases and clashes.
Bajitpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) SM Shahidullah said he is staying in Dhaka and that a police force is present at the scene.
