BRTA to give at least Tk 500,000 for road crash deaths; applications must be filed within 90 days
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) will provide financial assistance to anyone killed or injured in a road accident.
The BRTA announced the information in a post on its official Facebook page on Thursday (5 November).
According to the post, any person killed or injured in a road accident, including the driver, can receive financial assistance from the BRTA Trustee Board.
To receive the assistance, an application must be submitted in Form-32 to the Chairman of the Trustee Board within 90 days of the accident. Applications can also be made online through the BSP. Under the rules, there is no opportunity to apply after 90 days have passed, the post said.
On the amounts, the BRTA said at least Tk 500,000 will be paid in the case of death in an accident. In the case of loss of a limb, the assistance will be at least Tk 300,000.
A person seriously injured with no prospect of returning to normal life will receive at least Tk 300,000, while someone with a prospect of returning to normal life will receive at least Tk 100,000, according to the post.
Once an application is verified and the assistance is approved, the money will be sent by cheque to the applicant's own bank account, the BRTA said.
