Ansar-VDP programmes across the country on National Revolution and Solidarity Day, flag hoisting and reading of messages
Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party has begun its formal programme on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day with the hoisting of the national flag and the reading of messages from the President and the Prime Minister.
On Saturday (7 November), the national flag was hoisted at sunrise at the force's headquarters as well as at all range and district offices across the country.
Officers, employees and members of the force at various levels were present at the time. The information was given in a press release signed by Md Nazmus Sakib, Assistant Director and Public Relations Officer of the force.
The release said that, following proper flag protocol, the national flag was hoisted and the messages given by the President and the Prime Minister were read out. The messages highlighted the historical background of the day, its importance in national life and its contemporary significance.
The release further said that 7 November 1975 is an important chapter in Bangladesh's national history. Against the backdrop of political instability and state uncertainty at the time, the then army chief, Major General Ziaur Rahman, was freed through the Sepoy-Janata revolution and solidarity.
It said that under his leadership afterwards, a new chapter in running the state began through the establishment of political and administrative stability, the reintroduction of multi-party democracy and a return to the electoral process.
Explaining the significance of the day, the release said the aim of the observance is to further strengthen patriotism, nationalism, unity, solidarity and the pledge of service to the country among the members of the force, holding on to the spirit of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
Day-long programmes are being observed with the participation of members of the force, from the headquarters down to field-level offices.
The force said the day-long programme is an effort to carry the spirit of 7 November to the new generation of its members.
