US still willing to seek solution on Iran, says Qatari prime minister

Staff Reporter

Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has said the United States remains willing to seek a solution to the conflict with Iran, even after the midterm elections changed the political landscape in Washington.

US President Donald Trump said America has carried out 'minor strikes' on Iran's Qeshm Island.

Trump said these were the first attacks since the November 3 midterm elections. He told reporters the conflict is 'not a war'.

The Qatari prime minister's remarks came at a time when the political picture in Washington has shifted after the elections. He nevertheless spoke of keeping the path to a solution open.

In Trump's words, the strikes on Qeshm Island were limited in scope. He stressed that the United States is not entering a war.

The Qatari prime minister said the United States is still prepared to seek a solution to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
