Staff Reporter

More than one million applications have been submitted for rechecking HSC and equivalent examination scripts. In seven days, 278,882 students submitted a total of 1,037,717 applications. This is the highest number of applications in the last few years. The recheck results will be published on 27 November.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, confirmed the information on Saturday (7 November) night.

He said that within the scheduled time, 278,882 students applied for rechecking and re-evaluation of their results. A student can apply for more than one subject and paper. Altogether, the number of applications stands at 1,037,717.

According to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, in 2025, 226,561 candidates from 11 education boards applied for rechecking 428,458 scripts. In the previous year, 2024, a total of 508,116 applications were submitted across the 11 education boards. Compared with the last two years, applications have more than doubled this time.

Applications for rechecking HSC and equivalent examination results began at 8am on 1 November. The scheduled application period ended at 8pm on Saturday.

However, Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman said many students could not apply because of complications in the online system in the final hours. He said there were some problems online in the last three to four hours, which prevented many students from applying.

Considering this, extending the application time is being considered. The time may be extended by three to four hours, and at most five hours. If a decision is taken, it will be announced through a notice on the Dhaka Education Board's website, Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman said.

The results of the rechecking and re-evaluation of HSC and equivalent examination results will be published on 27 November. Professor Jesmin Taslima Banu, convener of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Examination Controllers Committee and controller of examinations of the Dhaka Education Board, shared this information.

She said that after the application process ends, the application data will be collected from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Sunday. On 9 November, the computer cell will send the lists containing answer-script information and subject-wise lists to the relevant branches.

By 12 November, examiners will be appointed for re-evaluation and answer scripts will be collected from the chief examiners. Briefing of examiners and the re-evaluation work will begin between 13 and 19 November. Examiners must send their information to the computer cell by 20 November.

Then, between 21 and 23 November, the computer cell will include the changed marks and verify the answer-script codes. From 24 to 26 November, the answer scripts with changed marks will be finally verified. After all the processes are completed, the recheck results will be published on 27 November.

Earlier, the HSC and equivalent examination results were published on 31 October. This year the average pass rate across 11 education boards is 52.12 percent. A total of 40,084 students obtained GPA-5. This is the lowest pass rate in the last 22 years.
