HSC script recheck deadline extended by 12 hours after technical glitch

Staff Reporter

The deadline to apply for rechecking HSC and equivalent examination scripts has been extended by 12 hours. The Inter-Education Board Exam Controllers Committee took the decision after many students could not apply within the set time because of a technical fault in the online system. Under the new decision, applications can now be submitted until 12 noon tomorrow, Sunday (November 8), instead of midnight tonight, Saturday.

The information was given in an urgent notice signed on Saturday night (November 7) by Professor Jesmin Taslima Banu, controller of examinations of the Dhaka Education Board and convener of the Inter-Education Board Exam Controllers Committee. The notice said the application process for script rechecking and re-evaluation was disrupted from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday because of the technical fault, leaving many candidates unable to apply during that time.

More than 1 million applications have been submitted this time for rechecking HSC and equivalent examination scripts. In seven days, 278,882 students submitted a total of 1,037,717 applications. That is the highest number of applications in recent years.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, confirmed the figures on Saturday night. He said 278,882 students applied for result rechecking and re-evaluation. One student can apply for more than one subject and paper, which is why the total number of applications stands at 1,037,717.

According to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, 226,561 candidates from 11 education boards applied for rechecking 428,458 scripts in 2025. In the previous year, 2024, a total of 508,116 applications were submitted. Compared with the last two years, the number of applications this time is more than double.

The results of the HSC and equivalent script rechecking and re-evaluation will be published on November 27. The education boards have prepared to finish the work according to the set schedule.

Professor Jesmin Taslima Banu said that after the application process ends, the application data will be collected from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Sunday. On November 9, the computer cell will send the lists of scripts and subject-wise lists to the departments concerned. By November 12, examiners will be appointed for re-evaluation and scripts will be collected from the chief examiners.

The briefing of examiners and the re-evaluation work will run from November 13 to 19. Examiners must send their information to the computer cell by November 20. Changed marks will then be entered into the computer cell and script codes verified from November 21 to 23. Scripts with changed marks will be finally verified from November 24 to 26. Once all the processes are complete, the results will be published on November 27.

The HSC and equivalent examination results were published earlier, on October 31. This year, the average pass rate across 11 education boards is 52.12 percent. A total of 40,084 students secured GPA-5. This is the lowest pass rate in 22 years.
