Two factions of the BNP clashed in Fatikchhari, Chattogram. Two people were injured in stabbing during the clash. After the clash, members of one faction set fire to tyres on the Feni-Khagrachhari regional road and created a blockade. Traffic remained stopped for about two hours.

The incident took place around 10pm on Saturday (November 7) in the Heyako Bazar area of the northern upazila. According to local sources, tension arose around 9:30pm near Heyako Bazar following a dispute between the two sides. At one point it turned into a clash.

The injured are local Jubo Dal leader Nasir Uddin Biplob and Jubo Dal worker Ghoshana Kabir, a follower of Nurul Amin Azad, the leader of the opposing faction. One person from each side was injured in the stabbing. However, what triggered the dispute and the clash between the two sides could not be known immediately.

Locals rescued the injured and first took them to Ramgarh and Fatikchhari upazila health complexes. Ghoshana Kabir was later shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

After the clash, members of one faction blocked the road by burning tyres. Vehicles were stuck on both sides of the road and passengers suffered. Tension and panic spread in the area at that time.

On receiving the news, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Traffic returned to normal after the blockade was lifted. Bipul Chandra De, officer-in-charge of Bhujpur police station, said members of the Datmara police outpost went to the spot after receiving news of the clash around 10pm.

OC Bipul Chandra De said he later reached the spot with his force and brought the situation under control. Both sides were persuaded and calmed down, and traffic was restored. The situation in the area is now calm.
