In Baraigram of Natore, miscreants held a pistol to bKash businessman Parimal Kabiraj, also known as Bhupen (45), and tried to snatch his bag full of money. They injured him by hitting him with an iron rod and the butt of the pistol. Police recovered a spent bullet casing and one live round left behind by the robbers at the scene. The injured businessman is now receiving treatment at the Upazila Health Complex.

The incident took place at around 7:30 p.m. yesterday, Saturday (7 November), on the Banpara-Fire Service-Kumrul regional road, in front of a deep tubewell on the western side of the Joari Union land office.

The injured Parimal Kabiraj is the son of the late Pravas Kabiraj of Kumrul Hindupara village in the upazila. He runs a bKash and mobile banking business at Banpara market.

His younger brother, Biplab Kabiraj, said his elder brother has been running a bKash and Nagad business at Banpara market for a long time. Last night, after closing his shop, he was returning home in an easybike carrying a bag full of money. Two other passengers were travelling in the easybike with him.

On the way, after crossing the Banpara Fire Service junction, as they reached the deep tubewell near the Joari Union land office on the Kumrul regional road, three miscreants on a motorcycle stopped their easybike.

The miscreants then tried to snatch the money bag from Parimal's hand. When he resisted, they hit him with an iron rod. During the scuffle, they struck his head and other parts of his body with the butt of a pistol.

When they screamed, local people rushed forward, and the miscreants fled on their motorcycle, leaving their shoes and sandals at the scene.

On receiving the news, police arrived at the scene and recovered a bullet casing and one live round. Local people later rescued the injured Parimal Kabiraj and took him to Baraigram Upazila Health Complex.

Shafiqul Islam, inspector of Baraigram police station, said the incident is being investigated seriously. The victim's family has been advised to file a complaint at the police station, and efforts are under way to identify and arrest those involved.
