Members of the Teliyapara police outpost stopped the truck at around 10:20 am on Saturday (November 7) in the Shahjibazar area of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, in front of the 330-megawatt power plant. A search of the truck led to the recovery of the cumin.

Those arrested are Mujahid (24) of Jashore, Yobayer (18) and Maruf Ahmed (19) of Sylhet. Another person, Shuvo Das (45), who is absconding, has also been named as an accused in the case.

The three arrested men were sent to jail through the court on Sunday (November 8).

Sukhendra Sarkar, inspector and in-charge of the Teliyapara police outpost and the complainant in the case, said the accused were taking the Indian cumin, collected illegally, to Dhaka to sell it.

Police said a case has been filed under the Special Powers Act over the incident.

Efforts are under way to arrest the absconding accused, Inspector Sukhendra Sarkar said.
