Three people died of dengue in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 2,333 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. The information was given in a dengue-related press release sent on Sunday from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

The release said that among the patients admitted to hospital with dengue in the last 24 hours, 1,124 were from Dhaka division, 70 from Mymensingh division, 272 from Chattogram division, 332 from Khulna division, 113 from Rajshahi division, 74 from Rangpur division, 232 from Barishal division and 15 from Sylhet division.

Three people died of dengue in the last 24 hours. So far this year, a total of 461 people have died of dengue across the country.

As of November 8 this year, a total of 149,913 people have been admitted to hospital with dengue across the country. Of them, a total of 143,389 have recovered after treatment and been discharged from hospital. At present, 6,063 dengue patients are admitted to hospitals.

The division-wise figures show that almost half of the new patients are from Dhaka division. In one day, 1,124 patients were admitted in Dhaka. Next come Khulna division with 332, Chattogram division with 272 and Barishal division with 232. Sylhet division recorded the lowest number of new patients, only 15.

Compared with last year, this year's picture is more worrying. From January 1 to December 31, 2025, a total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue and 413 people died of dengue. With two months of this year still remaining, the death toll has already exceeded last year's total.

From January to December 31, 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue and 575 people died of dengue. And in 2023, a total of 1,705 people died of dengue, while 321,179 people were admitted to hospital with dengue.

The Directorate General of Health Services is publishing updated dengue figures every day. With 2,333 new patients admitted in a single day and three more deaths, the situation indicates that dengue is still far from under control.

At present, 6,063 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals. With 143,389 patients having recovered, most patients are returning home after treatment, but the number of new admissions every day is not coming down.

The health department has repeatedly advised people to keep stagnant water around their homes clean, use mosquito nets, and seek a doctor's advice quickly if they develop a fever. How the situation develops will become clear from the updated figures in the coming days.
