Taibur ends nine-year wait with 211 as Dhaka post 513 in NCL

Taibur Rahman last scored a double century in first-class cricket in 2017. Nine long years have passed since then. The wait finally ended as the experienced Dhaka batter reached another double hundred against Khulna Division in the National Cricket League (NCL).
Riding on his superb 211-run innings, Dhaka Division posted a big first-innings total of 513.
At the Rajshahi Divisional Cricket Stadium, in the sixth-round NCL match, Taibur had left the field unbeaten on 128 on the first day. He batted in the same rhythm on the second day as well.
Even after losing two partners quickly at the start, the 35-year-old batter was not rattled. Instead, he carried the innings forward with the lower-order batters towards the end.
He built a crucial 91-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Suman Khan. It was during this stand that he ended the long wait and reached his double century.
Taibur was eventually dismissed for 211 off 294 balls, with 22 fours and 3 sixes. It was his third double century in first-class cricket.
Earlier, in 2017, he had played his career-best innings of 242. Taibur became the ninth Bangladeshi batter to score a third double century — a record in Bangladesh first-class cricket.
Soon after Taibur’s departure, Dhaka declared their first innings at 513.
Aminul Islam scored 64 for the team, while Faisal Ahmed, who had made 70 the previous day, also contributed to Dhaka’s big total.
For Khulna, Parvez Rahman Jibon took 4 wickets. In reply, Khulna lost Soumya Sarkar early in their innings.
