The National Curriculum Coordination Committee (NCC) has approved, subject to necessary revisions, four new books for the 2027 academic year: "Kheladhula" (Sports) and "Bangladesher Sangskriti" (Culture of Bangladesh) for Class Four, and "Learning with Happiness" and "Amar Karigari Shikkha" (My Technical Education) for Class Six.

The final approval for the four books for the two classes at the primary and secondary levels was given at separate NCC meetings held on Sunday, 25 October, at the International Mother Language Institute.

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan attended the afternoon meeting on the approval of the new Class Four books as chief guest.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj and the Prime Minister's Special Assistant Gias Uddin attended that meeting as special guests.

The meeting, chaired by Primary and Mass Education Secretary Jasmine Nahar, was also attended by Chief Information Commissioner Dr Nahrin Islam Khan, the Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh and other committee members.

At the separate meeting on the approval of the two new Class Six books at the secondary level, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan was also present as chief guest.

That meeting was chaired by Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Abdul Khaleque. The Prime Minister's Special Assistant Gias Uddin attended as special guest, and Chief Information Commissioner Dr Nahrin Islam Khan and other committee members were also present.

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) took the initiative to include these four new textbooks in the curriculum in light of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's long-held vision, wide-ranging research and directions to make the education system joyful, practical and rich in moral values.

Curriculum experts say these books will bring students out of the rote-learning and exam-centred mindset of the country's conventional education system and help make them more joyful, life-oriented and institutionally skilled.
