An International Office and an International Language Centre will be set up to expand students' opportunities for higher education and global employment, while an Institute of Biological Science will be launched to make academic and research work more dynamic.

The decisions were taken on Monday (26 October) at 3:30pm at the ninth meeting of the university's Planning, Development and Works Committee, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sohel Hasan at his office.

Those present at the meeting included Dr K. M. Babar, MP for Gopalganj-2, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Ataur Rahman, acting registrar Md Morad Hossain, Dean of the Engineering Faculty Professor Dr Md Kamruzzaman, Dean of the ASVM Faculty Dr Mahbub Hasan, Principal of Gopalganj Medical College Professor Dr Md Golam Morshed Molla, Professor Dr Kazi Azizul Mawla of the Department of Architecture at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), a representative of the Chief Engineer of the Education Engineering Department, university engineer Dr Md Abdullah Al Asad, and the Director of Planning, Development and Works, Mohammad Ashiquzzaman Bhuiyan.

Those involved expect that, once implemented, the initiatives will benefit around 10,000 students of the university. In their view, the steps will widen students' access to higher education and open new paths to global employment.
