Python rescued from beside Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar; to be released in forest

The Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation has rescued a python from beside the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar. The snake was first spotted beside the highway at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday by Dr Bahar, a physician at the Sreemangal veterinary animal hospital.
Dr Bahar spotted the snake on his way home after finishing his duties. When the snake tried to cross the road, he blocked it, and the snake moved towards the side of the road.
With vehicles moving on the highway, there was a risk the snake would be run over if it got onto the road. Dr Bahar then informed the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation.
On receiving the news, the foundation's director Swapan Deb Sajal and environmental activist Rajdeep Deb Dip quickly reached the spot and rescued the python.
After the rescue, the python was handed over to the Sreemangal Forest Department's range office.
Kazi Nazmul Islam, range officer of the Sreemangal Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, said the rescued python will be released in the forest.
