The Tampa Bay Rays have kept themselves alive in the World Series. They beat the Milwaukee Brewers in extra innings in Game 4 to record their first win of the series.

The game went to 13 innings. Cooper Pratt broke a 2-2 tie at the top of the 13th with a solo home run that put the Brewers, chasing the first World Series title in franchise history, just three outs away from celebrating. The 22-year-old gave Milwaukee the lead late in the game.

But an error allowed Junior Caminero to reach base to start the bottom of the frame, and the Rays found life. Liam Hicks singled to move Caminero to third, and Jonny DeLuca tied the game with an RBI single to center field.

Chandler Simpson then loaded the bases with no outs. Ben Williamson, the last player left on the Rays' bench, delivered a pinch-hit single to cap a two-run 13th inning, give Tampa Bay its first win of the series and force a Game 5.

Pratt was Milwaukee's brightest batter, going 4-for-5 with an RBI double as well as his 13th-inning home run.

Simpson had opened the scoring for the Rays, doubling down the right field line off Brewers starter Dustin May to score DeLuca for a 1-0 lead.

Pratt tied the game with his own two-out RBI double. The Rays went back ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth when Brewers third baseman David Hamilton threw the ball away, allowing Caminero to cross the plate.

Hamilton made up for it leading off the next frame, hitting a solo home run to right center off Griffin Jax to tie the game again. From there both bullpens held, forcing extra innings.

The Brewers last played in the World Series in 1982, when they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals. Back after 44 years, they owned the best regular-season record at 103-59 and had swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. Their only postseason loss before this game was Game 3 of the division series against the San Diego Padres.

In Game 3 on Monday night the Brewers had scored eight runs with two outs in the fifth inning in a brutal home loss for the Rays. Down 3-0 in the series, this win was essential for Tampa Bay.

The series now continues with Game 5 on Wednesday night between the two pennant winners.
