Bangladesh's spinners struck as soon as play resumed at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur after a break of nearly an hour for rain and bad light, sending West Indies batters back to the pavilion in quick succession.

Play in the third session on the second day of the Mirpur Test resumed at 3:25pm local time, after rain and poor light had halted the match.

Early in the third session, spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz removed West Indies opener John Campbell, who had become dangerous for Bangladesh with an innings of 54, bringing relief to the hosts.

Taijul Islam then struck twice in the same over. First to go was Kevem Hodge, caught by Muminul Haque at silly point. Two overs earlier Hodge had survived a similar chance, with the same bowler and the same fielder involved.

Taijul troubled the incoming Amir Jangoo with bounce and turn off his first ball, and off the next ball Jangoo swept and was caught by Tanzid Hasan Tamim at midwicket. Taijul thus took two wickets without conceding a run in the 36th over.

At the time of writing, West Indies were 103 for 4 after 39 overs, with Tagenarine Chanderpaul on 22 and Justin Greaves on 5 at the crease.

Earlier, West Indies had begun their reply after Bangladesh were bowled out for 272 in their first innings.
