Various things are being said at home and abroad about the Teesta Masterplan. State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad has warned that if any evil force attempts a conspiracy surrounding this project, they will not be spared.

He said those involved in a conspiracy would be identified and brought under the law. The prime minister will formally inaugurate the long-awaited Teesta Masterplan by December 2027, he also said.

The state minister made the remarks while talking to journalists after visiting the Teesta Barrage area on Thursday (29 October) afternoon.

Farhad Hossain Azad said many things were being said about the Teesta at home and abroad today. In this situation, if any evil force became involved in their activities and attempted a far-reaching conspiracy over the Teesta, they would not be spared. They would be identified and brought under the law, he said.

Presenting the progress in implementing the Teesta Masterplan, the state minister said the work of preparing the project's feasibility study report was almost at its final stage. The state minister for planning had already given consent and signed the relevant documents.

He said it was hoped that the next process would be taken forward after the finance minister signed next week upon returning to the country.

The state minister also said that after the feasibility study report was finalised, opinions of foreign experts would be taken to prepare the development project proposal. This process could take about nine to ten months. The tender process would begin after that.

He said the plan was to complete these steps and have the prime minister formally inaugurate the Teesta Masterplan by December 2027.

Officials of the concerned offices and local representatives were present during the visit.
