England ended a 21-year wait for a one-day win on Pakistani soil by beating Sri Lanka by 55 runs in a thrilling 717-run match in Lahore.

Put in to bat after losing the toss, England posted 386 for 5 on the back of a superb innings from Ben Duckett.

Duckett made 167 off 132 balls with 24 fours and one six. Tom Banton scored 74, Harry Brook 44, Jordan Cox 43, Will Jacks 30 and Sam Curran an unbeaten 21.

Sri Lanka fought back through a blistering century from Pavan Rathnayake, who hit 118 off 77 balls with 15 fours and one six.

Kusal Mendis added 89 and Avishka Fernando 48 for Sri Lanka.

At one stage Sri Lanka were 177 for 2 and moving towards victory. But wickets fell at regular intervals and they were eventually bowled out for 331 in 45.1 overs.

Liam Dawson took four wickets for England and Sonny Baker took two.

England's previous ODI win in Pakistan had come in December 2005. Almost 21 years later, the English side tasted victory there again.

After three defeats in the ongoing tri-nation series, this was also England's first win of the tournament.
