Sirajdikhan police station Officer-in-Charge Md Alauddin confirmed the filing and said the case was recorded at the station around midnight last night. Main accused Sohrab is in police custody, and the legal process to produce him before court is under way.

According to police sources, a group of masked assailants attacked the father and daughter on Wednesday night when they reached the Patharghata area of Sirajdikhan upazila.

The assailants slit the throat of four-year-old Tawba, killed her and left her in a deserted place. At the same time, her father Golap Hossain (30) was seriously wounded with sharp weapons and forcibly made to drink poison.

The next day, on Thursday around 9am, police recovered Tawba's bloodied body from an empty plot at an abandoned brickfield in Ramkrishnadi village of the upazila.
