Relatives surround police and snatch murder-case accused UP member Nizam Uddin after arrest in Noakhali's Hatiya

Relatives have snatched Nizam Uddin — a local union parishad member and an accused named in the FIR of several cases including murder — from police custody shortly after his arrest in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali. The incident took place on Friday evening (30 October) at Ramcharan Bazar in Sukhchar Union of the upazila.
Nizam Uddin is the son of the late Saidul Haque of Char Amanullah village in Ward No. 7 of Sukhchar Union, and the elected union parishad member of the same ward. He was involved in local Awami League politics. Nine cases, including a murder case, are pending against him.
Police said Nizam Uddin was a warrant-listed accused in the murder case. After a police team arrested him from Ramcharan Bazar on Friday evening, a group of miscreants surrounded the officers and snatched him from their custody.
Kabir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatiya police station, said that after the arrest, Nizam Uddin's relatives surrounded the police, and he escaped taking advantage of the situation. Police are trying to arrest him again.
The OC added that legal action will also be taken against those who obstructed the police in the discharge of their duty.
