Nilachal Paribahan owner Ariful Islam and his nephew Al-Amin were allegedly beaten and injured on the Dhaka-Aricha highway near the PTI gate of Manikganj bus stand, following a dispute centred on a road accident. It has also been alleged that Tk 1 lakh 40 thousand was snatched from Ariful Islam's pocket during the attack.

The incident took place at around 8:30pm on Thursday near the PTI gate of Manikganj bus stand. The two injured men were later taken with the help of local people to Manikganj 250-bed General Hospital for treatment.

Ariful Islam filed a written complaint over the incident on Friday with the officer-in-charge (OC) of Manikganj police station. The complaint names five people, including the driver and supervisor of Selfie Paribahan, and accuses another 7-8 unidentified people.

According to the complaint, a dispute had been going on between Nilachal and Selfie Paribahan centred on a road accident. Following from that dispute, the accused blocked the path of Ariful Islam and his nephew Al-Amin on the night of the incident. At one stage, they were attacked with iron rods, hammers and a chassis. Both men sustained injuries on various parts of their bodies in the attack.

Ariful Islam alleged that during the attack, the driver and supervisor of Selfie Paribahan took Tk 1 lakh 40 thousand in cash from his trouser pocket. When local people came forward, the accused left the scene threatening to kill them and make the bodies disappear.

Ariful Islam said the attack was carried out because of the dispute arising from the road accident. He demanded a proper investigation of the incident and legal action against those involved.

District Sramik Dal general secretary Abdur Razzak Liton said he had heard about the matter. He said the incident happened because of a misunderstanding, and that he would try to sit with both sides and settle the matter.

Manikganj Sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Monir Hossain said a written complaint had been received in the incident, and necessary legal action would be taken after investigation.

However, when the accused Selfie Paribahan driver was called to get his statement, his number was found switched off.
