Murder Case Filed at Uttarkhan over Tahsif Death, Friend Deep Shown Arrested by River Police

Enayetul Karim, father of former Air Force flight lieutenant K M Tahsif Souri, has filed a murder case at Uttarkhan police station in the capital over the recovery of his son's body. Unknown persons have been named as accused in the case.
Tahsif's business partner and junior friend Shahriar Reza Deep has been shown arrested in that case.
On Saturday morning (31 October), Uttarkhan police station officer-in-charge Habibur Rahman confirmed the case and said the investigation was continuing.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has handed Deep over to the River Police, the agency investigating the incident.
River Police chief Additional IGP Rezaul Karim said Deep had been shown arrested in the case. Information found in the PBI investigation and the River Police investigation was being verified.
On Friday (30 October), the PBI took Deep to the Mazar Basti area adjoining the Turag river in Tongi, inspected the scene and verified various information. A PBI official confirmed that he was later handed over to the River Police.
The official said the River Police is conducting the main investigation into Tahsif's death. Because the incident is important, the PBI collected and verified information through a shadow investigation and handed the information found to the River Police.
Earlier, on the night of 29 October, the PBI took Deep into custody from the third floor of a house in B Block on Babar Road in Mohammadpur in the capital. He is the son of Selim Reza, a resident of that area.
Deep had spent about six hours with Tahsif before he went missing. For that reason, the PBI began investigating to learn details of the incident from him.
On Friday, a PBI investigation team took Deep to the Mazar Basti area in Tongi. He was interrogated to learn what had happened around boundary pillar number 29 adjoining the Turag river. Based on information given by him, a black Suzuki Gixxer 150 motorcycle was recovered from that area. The motorcycle had no number plate.
During PBI interrogation, Deep gave his account of the night of the incident. According to his statement, he and Tahsif had gone that night to the Mazar Basti area adjoining the Turag river. While the two were talking there, several people chased them. According to Deep, two of the chasers were wearing police uniforms.
Deep claimed that on seeing those people, Tahsif ran and at one point jumped into the Turag river. Deep, meanwhile, hid behind boundary pillar number 29 of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and later left the place.
