Alim pass rate 61.07 percent, down 32 points in two years; 3,250 students achieve GPA-5

The pass rate in this year's Alim examinations under the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board is 61.07 percent. A total of 3,250 students achieved GPA-5. Both the pass rate and the number of GPA-5 achievers have fallen compared with last year, and the decline in Alim results has now continued for two consecutive years.
The HSC, Alim and equivalent examination results were published at around 11 am on Saturday (31 October) at the conference room of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education at the Secretariat. Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon announced the simultaneous publication of the results across the country, where a summary of the results was presented.
According to the published results, 89,321 students sat this year's Alim examination. Of them, 54,547 passed and 34,774 failed. Among those who passed, 29,269 were boys and 25,278 were girls.
Among the GPA-5 achievers, 2,028 were boys and 1,222 were girls — meaning more than three out of every five GPA-5 achievers were boys.
Last year, the Alim pass rate was 75.61 percent and 4,268 students achieved GPA-5. That means the pass rate has fallen by 14.5 percentage points in one year, and the number of GPA-5 achievers has dropped by 1,018.
The decline in Alim results has continued for two straight years. In 2024, the Alim pass rate was 93.40 percent and 9,613 students achieved GPA-5. Compared with that, the pass rate has fallen by 32 percentage points in two years, and GPA-5 achievers have dropped by nearly two-thirds.
Even so, the Alim result is somewhat better than the average across all 11 education boards. The average pass rate in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations across all boards is 52.12 percent; the Alim pass rate is about 9 percentage points higher than that average. Across all boards, a total of 40,084 students achieved GPA-5 this year.
