Sole examinee fails at Patuakhali college with eight teachers, no concrete building in 24 years

Only one student sat this year's HSC examinations from Mirzaganj Majidbaria College in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali. After the results were published, it was found that the student had also failed. Yet the college has eight teachers on its staff.

Inquiries at the college found that the institution, established in 2002, currently has eight teachers working there.

Even after 24 long years since its establishment, the college has not built its own concrete academic building. Classes are held in a tin-shed structure.

The authorities claim that a lack of necessary infrastructure and facilities is also reducing students' interest in the college.

Principal Faruk Iqbal, describing the institution's limitations, said the college has not yet been included in the MPO scheme. For this reason, good-quality students are not interested in getting admitted here.

The principal also said that alongside the infrastructure crisis, the number of students at the college is decreasing day by day.

Principal Faruk Iqbal said only one student from the humanities group took part in this year's HSC examinations. The student failed in one subject.
